The Society holds a music camp each year, usually during the long weekend in the last week of September, at the Kobeelya Conference Centre, Katanning.
This weekend 'camp' is for playing, learning and socialising - all levels of musical ability are catered for, and a great variety of instruments. Each year we invite a leading professional performer and teacher to be our Principal Tutor.
As well as our Principal Tutor, we have other tutors for group sessions such as strings, recorders at several levels, Baroque trio sonatas.
The program: The three days of the weekend have five morning and late afternoon tutorial sessions with mass playing (all camp participants in a large orchestra), and special options groups in the afternoons. On Saturday evening there is usually a dinner, followed by renaissance dancing to early music. On Sunday evening there is a concert presented by our tutors, and there is a students' concert on Monday morning.
The tutorial groups are arranged to suit different abilities and instruments, from beginners in recorders to advanced groups, and strings.
The afternoon options: You make your choice of these. Topics often include articulation and various techniques in recorder playing for all performance levels; madrigals or plainsong, hand bells and trio sonatas.

Kobeelya Conference Centre consists of a large heritage house
with accommodation in small dormitories and rooms for group music making. There
are also adjacent classrooms and large dining room. There are many rooms
available for groups to play music in, as well as recreational facilities
- pool, table tennis, tennis courts.

All meals are provided in the dining room, except for Friday evening, which is bring-it-yourself affair. You have to bring your own sleeping bag or sheets and blankets.
This weekend is designed as an informal and happy gathering of people who wish to make music together and learn while doing it.
